InterAction for Health and Human Rights
InterAction for Health and Human Rights is a registered business name of Intersex Human Rights Australia Ltd. Bringing together Intersex Peer Support Australia and Intersex Human Rights Australia, they are the leading national body by and for people with innate variations of sex characteristics. They promote human rights, health, and bodily autonomy.
Vision and mission
InterAction for Health and Human Rights' goal is to help create a society where intersex people (people with innate variations of sex characteristics/differences of sex development) are not stigmatised, and where their rights are recognised. They promote human rights and bodily autonomy through advocacy, policy and information provision, education, and peer support. They work across Australia and internationally.
How InterAction for Health and Human Rights can help
InterAction for Health and Human Rights champion the needs of people with innate variations of sex characteristics and their families. They provide policy advice and education and training services, and work with institutions to promote quality research, and improve services, data and practices.
Two core programs they run include:
- Intersex Peer Support Australia — providing peer-led support and community connection,
- InterLink — providing peer-led, depathologised psychosocial services for people with innate variations of sex characteristics of all ages, from children through to our seniors, in addition to support needs of parents and families. This is delivered through individual and group counselling with trained counsellors and intersex peer workers.
